Midwest Pain Society: About Us

What is The Midwest Pain Society?
The Midwest Pain Society (MPS) is a multidisciplinary society of professionals from the Midwest who promote value, quality, safety and effectiveness in pain management.  Our members are professionals from academic, research and clinical practice. Members range from students, residents, fellows, and licensed professionals from early to late career.

Mission
MPS is a multidisciplinary community that brings together a diverse group of scientists, clinicians, and other professionals to increase the knowledge of pain and clinical practice to reduce pain-related suffering.

Vision
MPS envisions a world where pain prevention and relief are available to all people.

Values

Integrity: Demonstrated by mission-driven decisions and behaviors based on ethical choices, objective, evidence-based information, good science, and honest assessment of the greater good.

Dedication: Demonstrated by enduring commitment to advocacy for research, education, policy, and practice that advances pain prevention and relief.

Interdisciplinary: Demonstrated by respect for the value of diverse views and perspectives among professionals and appreciation of the need for teamwork to fulfill our mission.

Our Committment
Our leaders, Board of Directors, conference planning and membership committee members, and Society members are committed to integrated and best-practice pain management. MPS fosters a cohesive forum for networking, professional development and mentoring, and research support. The 2-day Annual Conference is cost-effective and provides continuing education with presentations and panel discussions covering research trials, clinical and practice innovation, patient safety, provider wellness, and case-based learning.

Opportunities!
Our Newsletter--The Nociceptor--offers members the opportunities to write brief articles on a range of interesting topics. Members are encouraged to attend our annual conference, consider joining our conference planning or membership committees, submit posters to our conference and articles to our newsletters, and participate in networking opportunities. Our President encourages prospective and current members to reach out at drhillenberg@gmail.com with questions or innovative ideas. We are an open society and value inclusion. New members are welcome and will find a supportive and growth-promoting environment providing professional satisfaction.
